“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

We’ve all heard the phrase, “that’s the way the cookie CRUMBLES.”  It’s a phrase typically used when something that we wanted or planned didn’t go the way we anticipated. I can relate because over the past few weeks plans that I’d made had CRUMBLED. Plans…to work with a specific person on a new business endeavor, CRUMBLED. A new place for my brother to live that would better assist him in his healing process, CRUMBLED.  All I could do was watch as the plans I’d made fell apart and CRUMBLED.   Has that ever happened to you?  Have you had what you thought was a solid plan that instead CRUMBLED?  You already know I have.  So for this week’s blog, let’s talk SHIP about plans that have fallen apart and CRUMBLED!!!

When something is CRUMBLED it means it has broken into smaller pieces, has fallen apart, or completely collapsed. It may be cool for a cookie but when it comes to our lives and our plans, it can be a devastating and frightening experience.  Having CRUMBLED plans can be a frustrating experience that evokes an array of different emotions. Usually, it starts with feelings of disappointment that may even turn into anger. But once we learn to accept what is, instead of what we think should be, we’ll gain a different perspective on our CRUMBLED plans. We’ll clearly understand that when things don’t go as planned, it could actually be a blessing in disguise. See in order for us to accept a new plan and a new blessing, we first have to let go of how we wanted the old thing to go and learn how to find joy in how things are now. Hmmm….. how do we do that? We simply accept that our CRUMBLED plans weren’t what GOD had planned for us.

Years ago after a friend finally got a job after a long period of unemployment, I recall him saying that GOD has the ability to work things out better than we could ever dream.  And that truth is exactly what happens when we let go of what we want and accept that those plans have CRUMBLED. When we do this, we willingly replace our plans with those ordered by GOD. I’ll admit, I was disappointed when my plans CRUMBLED because I thought they were solid. But, I realized that I needed to let go of my expectations and accept what it was instead of what I thought it should be and once I did, GOD revealed HIS plan.

See when my business plans failed and CRUMBLED, GOD activated HIS plan. HE re-connected me with a long-time college friend who unbeknownst to me was better equipped to assist and advance my new business endeavor moreso than who I’d chosen. When my plans for the fancy place where I wanted my brother to go failed and CRUMBLED, GOD activated HIS plan. HE led my family to a place more therapeutic and that had better staffing capabilities for treating and healing him than the one I’d chosen. So, the next time your plans fail and CRUMBLE, allow GOD to activate HIS plan. After all, HIS plans are far more detailed than ours could ever be. HIS plans are designed to prosper us. HIS plans will NOT harm us and will keep us safe. HIS plans will give us hope and a future.

I confess that I don’t know everything but there are two things that I do know… the first is that the best-laid plans WILL fall apart and they WILL CRUMBLE ……and the second is that when we TRUST and BELIEVE GOD’s declarations that HE knows the plans that HE has for us, I KNOW that …….THOSE PLANS WILL NEVER BE CRUMBLED!!!

  1. I agree with you. When I strive to make things happen without consulting with the Father, my plans crumble. But when I invite the Spirt of God in and consult with him, the plans unfold and are successful. Thank you for reminding me through this blog.
